Several players moved from Hickory to Frisco, including Justin Foscue and Josh Smith
The Texas Rangers announced that infielders Justin Foscue and Josh Smith and pitcher Daniel Robert have been promoted from high-A Hickory to AA Frisco. Frisco, which has had positive COVID tests, has placed six players on the injured list, and also got pitcher
Foscue, the Rangers first round pick in 2020, and Smith, acquired from the Yankees in the Joey Gallo trade, have both been seen as likely candidates to move up to Frisco this month, and so while the COVID outbreak may have impacted the timing, both have earned the promotions. Foscue has slashed .296/.407/.736 in 150 plate appearances for Frisco this year while playing exclusively second base. Smith has a .317/.430/.591 slash line between low-A and high-A. Smith has played mostly shortstop.
Also moving to Hickory is Daniel Robert. Robert is a righthanded reliever who had a standout year for Spokane in 2019, but has been out with an injury for most of 2021. He’s a big righthander who throws hard and turns 27 later this month, and while he could be a temporary addition, it wouldn’t be surprising if he stuck with Frisco going forward.
