Three of the Rangers upper level pitching prospects have hit the injured list
The Texas Rangers upper level minor league pitching has taken a bit of a hit this week, with three 40 man roster members — Winston Santos, Emiliano Teodo, and Marc Church — all hitting the minor league injured list.
Teodo and Church, both of whom are righthanded relievers at Round Rock, are expected to miss relatively short periods of time. Teodo, per Kennedi Landry today, is going on the injured list with shoulder fatigue. Teodo, who had an extremely impressive camp, has had command issues in the early part of the minor league season, walking 8 and allowing three home runs in 9.1 IP, with 10 runs allowed. Landry indicates that the organization expects Teodo to miss 7-10 days, with this being a move where they are erring on the side of caution.
Church, meanwhile, is also expected to miss 7-10, though in his case it is due to an oblique. Church started the season in the major league pen, but struggled with his command and ended up being sent down to Round Rock.
Santos, on the other hand, is expected to miss at least the next couple of months with a stress fracture in his back. The 23 year old righthanded had thrown 5.2 innings over two starts for Frisco this year, after a breakout campaign in 2024 that saw him split the year between high-A and AA.
Finally, Hub City righthander Paul Bonzagni has also landed on the injured list with elbow inflammation, a symptom that is always worrisome for a pitcher. Bonzagni, 23, was the Rangers’ 12th round pick in 2023, and spent most of 2024 at low-A. Bonzagni had made three appearances in 2025, with a 4.82 ERA.
