Rangers beat Angels

Rangers 10, Angels 5

ARLINGTON, Texas, May 17 — It was a great night on Tuesday, as fans watched the Texas Rangers beat the Los Angeles Angels by a final score of 10–5. Home runs by Corey Seager and Kole Calhoun made a big impact in front of a crowd of 17, 727 spectators. They are hoping that they will see more of the same from the Rangers in the Wednesday finale. The first pitch for that game is scheduled for 7:05 PM Central. The Angels will send two-way star Shohei Ohtani (3–2, 2.78 ERA) to the hill in this one. Dane Dunning (1–2, 4.06 ERA) will start for Texas.

Rangers Beat Angels With Power

This was another night in which the Rangers had some power in their bats. Shortstop Corey Seager promptly belted a home run in the top of the first inning. This made the score 1–0. Their next round-tripper came in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Rangers were trailing 3–1 at the time. Adolis Garcia was on base when Kole Calhoun hit a two-run homer to right-center field that tied the game 3–3. It really had the fans cheering.

Their next run came late in the game. It was in the bottom of the eighth inning to be exact. Garcia singled on a ground ball to second base. This drove in Seager. The Rangers were behind 4–3, and this run tied it 4–4. The Rangers got the ever elusive lead shortly after. Nathaniel Lowe singled to right field and drove in Garcia. Catcher Sam Huff would add on two more runs to the Rangers total with an RBI single that scored Jonah Heim and Calhoun.

They would soon open it up to a 10–4 lead in the eighth. Eli White singled to drive in Lowe, and Huff. With the help of an E7, however, White was also able to score from first base.

Tough-Out Trout

Mike Trout performed how he usually does against the Rangers on Tuesday night. As a matter of fact, he was a triple shy of the cycle in this one. The Angels got on the board in the top of the 3rd inning. Taylor Ward hit his ninth home run of the season to tie the game 1–1. They would jump ahead 3–1 later in the inning on a two-run home run by Anthony Rendon.

In the top of the seventh inning, Trout hit his tenth home run of the year to left field. They scored their fifth and final run in the top of the ninth inning. Tyler Wade scored on an RBI single by Rendon. They inched closer, but the Rangers beat the Angels in the end. Manager Chris Woodward has to be very pleased with this victory.

Rangers Pitching Notes

Lefty Taylor Hearn pitched decently for the Rangers, but he got the no-decision in his outing. He pitched four innings, and gave up three earned runs on five hits. Two of those hits were home runs. Hearn also walked three, and struck out two. Lefty Matt Moore relieved Hearn in the fifth inning. In the two innings that Moore pitched, he allowed two hits, and a walk. He also struck out five.

Next out of the pen for the Rangers was Brett Martin. Martin tossed one inning in which he gave up one run on two hits, one of which was a home run. He walked one, and struck out two. Dennis Santana pitched the eighth inning. Santana had a perfect frame. He had two strikeouts in his outing. Santana also earned the winning decision for the Rangers in this one. His record for 2022 is now 1–1, with an ERA of 2.70. Josh Sborz came in to pitch the ninth inning for the Rangers. He allowed one run on two hits, and he struck out two.

Angels’ righty Ryan Tepera got the losing decision in this game. Tepera came on to pitch in the eighth, and he was unable to record an out for the Angels. He He gave up five runs on three hits. He also walked two. His record for the season is now 1–1, with an ERA of 4.67. This was also his second blown save of 2022.
