Angels 8, Rangers 5
Angels 8, Rangers 5
- Well, that was unfortunate.
- And a big old mess, really.
- Only six hits given up by Rangers pitchers, though when you walk seven and hit four more, its not so great.
- And of course, misplays in the field behind the pitchers didn’t help matters, especially with the pitchers not helping themselves by issuing too many free passes.
- A laboring Patrick Corbin, who needed 103 pitches to get through five innings, at least left the game with the lead, despite the fielding shenanigans behind him.
- Nightmare outing from Jon Gray, who faced eight batters and only retired two of them. Three of the seven walks came from him.
- Really, this is one of those games where I don’t even know what to say. Poorly played baseball cost the team a winnable game.
- Kyle Higashioka had three hits, including a couple of homers, so that’s good. Him continuing to rake after missing time with the hamstring is a positive.
- Wyatt Langford had three hits, and so that’s a positive as well, I guess.
- But yeah…ugliness. And it is all the more jarring after an 8-1 homestand.
- With one more in Anaheim and four in Seattle this week, the Rangers need to shake the funk of the last two days, and quick.
- Patrick Corbin hit 93.8 mph with his sinker, averaging 92.3 mph. Jon Gray maxed out at 96.3 mph with his fastball. Caleb Boushley reached 93.2 mph with his fastball. Shawn Armstrong touched 94.4 mph with his sinker.
- Sam Haggerty had a 110.1 mph GIDP. Wyatt Langford had a 107.5 mph single from Wyatt Langford. Kyle Higashioka had a 107.3 mph home run annd a 102.5 mph single. Ezequiel Duran had a 106.1 mph single. Josh Jung had a 105.7 mph single. Jonah Heim had a 104.9 mph single. Adolis Garcia had a 100.2 mph single.
- Now an attempt to avoid the sweep on Wednesday.
