Morning, all!
Cody Bradford was scratched from his start Wednesday with elbow soreness and, unlike Tyler Mahle, it was apparently cause for enough concern that he had an MRI.
The MRI came back clean, so they’re going to shut him down for five days and reassess.
Evan Grant’s notes column observes that Bradford’s scratched start allowed the Rangers to roll out nine relievers over nine innings, allowing the team to evaluate pieces for a bullpen that had a lot of question marks at the end of 2024.
Emiliano Teodo has been reassigned to minor league camp, but he definitely announced his presence to the big league camp with authority.
Shawn McFarland has some Cactus League awards, like “Maybe Don’t Panic, but…” and “Relax, it’s March.”
Evan Grant profiles his number 12 ranked Ranger prospect, Paulino Santana. Santana showed exceptional plate discipline in his first professional season in the Dominican Summer League but not much power.
MLB.com’s list of 15 pitchers that could win the Cy Young in 2025 includes Ranger Jacob deGrom and former Ranger Cole Ragans.
Fangraphs is projecting the Rangers as (barely) the favorites to win the AL West this season, just edging out Seattle and Houston.
