Deion Sanders is no longer affiliated with the Dallas Cowboys, but he still has their best interest in his heart.
Sanders was able to catch up with veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore this Wednesday. He posted a photo from their visit on social media. His caption was pretty much a demand for the Cowboys.
“I got a Special visit today from a Future HOF’er and his sons @BumpNrunGilm0re,” Sanders wrote on Instagram. “Dallas Stop Playing.”
In other words, Sanders wants the Cowboys to re-sign Gilmore this offseason.
Gilmore, a former Defensive Player of the Year, had a nice 2023 season with the Cowboys. He had 68 tackles, 13 passes defended and two interceptions.
Despite how well Gilmore played, Cowboys executive Stephen Jones pretty much confirmed this week that re-signing him is not a priority at the moment.
“It’s just having to pick and choose where you want to use your resources. Not only was [Stephon] really good for us on the field, but I’d say a better guy off the field in terms of how he goes about his business, just being a pro, helping the young guys,” Jones said, via The Landry Hat. I hope things go well for him and he was nothing but very productive for us and we don’t ever rule that out, either.”
The Cowboys already have three proven cornerbacks in Trevon Diggs, DaRon Bland and Jourdan Lewis. It’ll be interesting to see where Gilmore lands.
